Studies on combining ability and heterosis through full diallel analysis in bhendi [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]

A full diallel analysis involving six bhendi genotypes was used to study the combining ability and heterosis for fruit yield and its component characters. The study revealed that the Kamini, Bakra and P 7 were good general combiners. The cross combinations of Kamini x Bakra exhibited highly significant and positive specific combining ability and standard heterosis for fruit yield and other yield contributing traits.
