The Ka-band 150 W high power helix Traveling Wave Tube

A Ka-band high power Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) has been developed for satellite communication and Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS). The features of this TWT are high power of 150W, high efficiency over 40%, high gain over 60 dB, wide output frequency range from 27.5 GHz to 30 GHz and improved intermodulation of -28.8 dBc at 20 W operation. This paper presents the design, improved performance, characteristics and test results of the newly developed TWT.
