Metamagnetic behavior of an organometallic polymer: [{Fe(C13H17N3)2}SO4·6H2O]n

1983
The organic polymer of (C13H17N3)n has been demonstrated to show metamagnetic behavior when the polymer is combined with iron (II) sulfate. The resulting iron-bonded polymer exhibits the field-induced phase transition from an antiferro- to a ferromagnetic phase at relatively weak magnetic field strength (< 600 Oe) in the temperature range of 1.9–300 K. This iron-bonded polymer [{Fe(C13H17N3)2}SO4·6H2O]n is the first example of magnetic polymer which has a backbone frame of organic polymer and shows magnetically ordered state even at room temperature.
