Joint channel estimation algorithm for intra-frequency TD-SCDMA system

In an intra-frequency TD-SCDMA communications system, generally the inter-cell interfering signals were treated as white noise in conventional channel estimators, which degraded the accuracy of the channel estimation. To obtain better knowledge of the channel impulse response (CIR), a multi-cell joint channel estimation algorithm was proposed in this paper. By taking the users of adjacent cells having strong interference into the channel estimation matrix, the white noise power in estimation was reduced significantly, which guaranteed high precision of the channel estimation. Because of getting the CIRs of both the users in local cell and the strongly interfering users of adjacent cells, the proposed algorithm can be applied to both multi-cell and single-cell space-time joint detection system. Compared with the algorithm used by the conventional Steiner channel estimator, the proposed algorithms have much higher estimation accuracy for both local users and adjacent users.
