Growth by the Combined Czochralski-molten Salt Solvent Technique and Characterization of YIG and YAlIG Single Crystals

YIG(Y_3Fe_5O_(12)) and YAlIG(Y_3Al_xFe_(5-x)O_(12)) single crystals were grown by the combined Czochralski-molten salt solvent technique,dimension of which was 10mm×7.0mm.The phase structure of YIG and YAlIG powders obtained was cubic system ,unit lattice calculated from XRD was a=(1.2376nm) (YIG) and a=1.2089nm(YAlIG ).YAlIG crystal was transparent in infrared range.The composition of YAlIG measured by X-ray fluorometry was Y_3Al_(2.96)Fe_(2.04)O_(12) .Magnetic susceptibility value of YAlIG crystal was less than that of YIG at room temperature.It is concluded that Al~(3+) occupied the tetrahedron interspace and octahedron interspace at the same time.
