Harmonic Analysis of a Novel 17-level M2I Fed 3-Phase Induction Motor

Recent decades, Multilevel Inverters (MLI) are popular for various applications like AC drives, reactive power compensation, power quality issues, HVDC transmission etc. Among various types of MLI, Modular Multilevel Inverters (M2I) are quite interesting for researchers due to it’s dynamic structure and features like simple control techniques, low Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) etc. This research work focus on the current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 17- level M2I fed 3-phase induction motor under various loading conditions. The induction motor is of 3-phase, 440V, 50Hz, 3kW, 1460 rpm. The proposed methodology is simulated and results were presented. This article has made the strategic conclusion with improved performance of a novel 17- level M2I.
