Numberical model for the determination of machining parameters in laser assisted machining

1996
LAM is a technology proposed in the early ’80s for increasing the cutting speed during the machining of traditional materials; the subsequent applications corcerned the machining of hard metals as steel alloys, nickel based alloys and ceramics. In ITIA experimental investigations on nickel based alloys and ceramics were performed, and a numerical model was realized and validated at the same time. In this paper the mentioned model is presented, together with the conclusions about the ways to set all the parameters involved in the turning.
