DETERMINATION OF THE WATER CONTENT RETAINED IN ACRISOL AND LIXISOL USING PEDOTRANSFER FUNCTIONS

RESUMO: O presente trabalho teve como objetivo estimar o conteudo volumetrico de agua retida no solo utilizando funcoes de pedotransferencia desenvolvidas a partir de um banco de dados especifico criado para as condicoes edafoclimaticas da regiao do Agreste Paraibano. Foram utilizados dados de atributos fisicos e quimicos de solos de 240 amostras de solo deformadas e indeformadas. As variaveis de cada funcao de pedotransferencia foram obtidas atraves de regressao multipla utilizando a opcao stepwise e a eficiencia das funcoes analisadas atraves dos indicadores estatisticos R², ME e RMSE. As quantidades de agua retidas foram determinadas nas tensoes -0,006, -0,01, -0,033, -0,1, -0,3, -0,5, -1,0 e -1,5 Mpa. A correlacao entre variaveis estruturais e retencao de agua no solo refletiu na precisao das PTFs; As PTFs gerados apresentaram baixa variacao em torno da linha 1:1 e boa precisao e podem ser utilizados para estimar o teor de agua retido nas classes de solos avaliadas.
ABSTRACT: The present research aimed to estimate the volumetric content of water retained in the soil using pedotransfer functions developed from a specific database created for the edaphoclimatic conditions of Agreste Paraibano region. Was used datas of physical and chemical attributes of soils from 240 deformed and undisturbed soil samples. The variables of each pedotransfer function were obtained through multiple regression using the stepwise option and the efficiency of the functions analyzed through the statistical indicators R², ME and RMSE. The retained water quantitative were determined at the tensions -0.006, -0.01, -0.033, -0.1, -0.3, -0.5, -1.0 and -1.5 Mpa. The correlation between structural variables and water retention in the soil reflected on the PTFs accuracy; The PTFs generated showed low variation around the 1:1 line and good accuracy and can be used to estimate the water content retained in soils classes evaluated.
