CLASSIFICATION OF PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS AND DRIVING LICENSE VEHICLE GROUPS

2004
This paper describes how, for a number of years now, doctors, pharmacists and patient have had their attention drawn to the information contained in the instruction of the use of certain drugs to the effect fact that the may cause drowsiness in vehicle drivers or machine operators. Since this type of notice appears very frequently, it is often vague and is sometimes qualified in some way or even ambiguously or hypothetically worded, it often results in the opposite of what is intended because it trivializes the information and makes it a secondary concern. The paper discusses the introduction of a program four years ago in France where a specific pictogram (red triangle depicting a car) must be printed on the boxes of drugs that constitute a risk to vehicle. This supplements the existing statutory product information.
