Smart Fault Detection and Generator Protection scheme using Arduino and HMI

In generators, the main faults includes overloading, overvoltage, under and over frequency operation, unbalance current, loss of synchronism, and loss of prime mover. In this paper, a mechanism is proposed for fault detection and protection in an industrial generator system. In the proposed work, an approach for continuous monitoring of the faults in generation system is provided through the deployment of sensors. In case the threshold parameters of generation system are exceeded, the generating system can trip the power system unharmed. Results of the experimental setup shows that the proposed framework is compatible for real-time fault detection in industrial applications.
