EGRID: An automatic mesh generator for transformer designs

1985
EGRID is a computer program for automatically generating finite element meshes for transformer designs in various configurations. It is designed to run in conjunction with WEMAP (Westinghouse Electric and Magnetic Analysis Program). The user inputs the major geometrical and material parameters for the transformer components in the design, and EGRID generates the mesh in the format required by the WEMAP pre-processor. The mesh can then be subsequently solved by the analysis program, and results can be displayed in the postprocessor of WEMAP. This paper presents the need for such a program. The development and features of the program are discussed, and several examples of the mesh generation and resulting analysis are given.
