Efficient Simulation of Electro-Thermal Microgripper using PMOR

Recently electro-thermal microgrippers have been widely used for their small size, low cost and ease of fabrication. In this paper, temperature profiling of a three dimensional electro-thermal microgripper is carried out. For parametric study, the length of the hot arm is taken. The computational burden is reduced by using model reduction strategies. For such finite element based problems with geometric parameters, matrix interpolation is preferred. But for different values of parameter, the size of Finite element model of the system are different. Hence a modified matrix interpolation method is developed and used. Simulation results of the models at different parameter values are shown.
