Adaptive Control of a Multilevel Inverter (5L) Connected to the Single Phase Electrical Grid

2018
This article deals with the connection problem of connecting photovoltaic (PV) systems to a single-phase grid (220V/50Hz) connected (PVGC). The goodness of the PVGC can be measured by the quality of current injected into the grid. Our control strategy, applied to a H-bridge multilevel inverter, is based on the choice of the corrector of the current internal loop. the resonant proportional corrector PR is than to the traditional PI corrector is the better concerning the pursuit of the sinusoidal setpoint allowing a performance increase of the PVGC. A harmonic compensator (HC) of 3 rd , 5 th and 7 th harmonics associated with the PR controller is used to improve the quality of the injected current into the grid (reducing the Total Harmonic Distortion THD% and ensuring an optimal power factor). Our theories are applied on a MATLAB/Simulink model of a 6kW PVGC. Simulation results obtained show the good performance of the control strategy used. In addition, they show that the LCL filter, implanted between the inverter and the grid, allows a good current harmonic attenuation generated by the multi-carrier sinusoidal pulse width modulation (MCSPWM) control.
