Procedure to Define an Accurate Model for Saturation and Cross-Coupling in Interior Permanent Magnet Machines

2020
Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) machines are characterized by high saturation and cross-coupling effect. In this paper a procedure is proposed to identify an IPM machine model able to taking into account in a simple and accurate manner both the cited effects. The model is based on functions that expr-ess the direct links $\bar{\psi}_{s d q}\left(\bar{i}_{s d q}\right)$, and the inverse link $\bar{i}_{s d q}\left(\bar{\psi}_{s d q}\right)$), where $\overline{i_{sdq}}$ and $\overline{\psi}_{sdq}$ are the stator current and stator flux linkage space vectors respectively. The paper shows that such a model is helpful for the analysis of both steady state and transient operation.
