Risk Communication and Food Recalls

In this chapter, we propose a framework for the analysis of risk communication and a list of recommendations to provide a new direction for industry pundits and policymakers. Specifically, we will present a conceptual model of risk communication; understand how risk communication efficiency can be enhanced by better accounting for the role of sociopolitical units; suggest how risk assessors should consider knowledge as a commodity; and, finally, present six recommendations for risk communication.
