Challenges with the Diagnosis and Management of Hypotensive Syndromes in the Elderly

2020
Current diagnostic criteria for different hypotensive syndromes are not adequate and arbitrary. The techniques for measurement including accuracy and reproducibility have to be refined. Standardizing the assessment of hypotensive syndromes is necessary. Current medication management of these symptomatic hypotensive syndromes remains suboptimal. Most of the current medications used for hypotensive syndromes were evaluated in small clinical trials, and there is a need for high-quality large, randomized, clinical studies for these medications.
