Synthesis, crystal structure, vibrational and optical properties of chlorometalate hybrids incorporating (DABCOH2)2+ cations

2019
Abstract Three organic-inorganic hybrid compounds based on chlorometalate anions and 1,4-Diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane cations [(DABCOH 2 ) 2+ ] have been synthesized by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. Their chemical formulas are (DABCOH 2 ) 2 [Sb 2 Cl 10 ]·2H 2 O (1) , (DABCOH 2 ) 2 [Sb 2 Cl 10 ]·H 2 O (2) and (DABCOH 2 ) 4 [Cd 2 Cl 7,83 ][Sb 2 Cl 9,17 ]Cl·4H 2 O (3) . All compounds have been solved by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The anionic layer of (1) consists of isolated [Sb 2 Cl 10 ] 4− bi-octahedra (0D). For the second compound (2) , the anionic framework is formed by infinite zigzag chains of corner-sharing [SbCl 6 ] 3− octahedra (1D). On the other hand, the crystal structure of (3) is built of [{(Cd 2 Cl 7,83 )(Sb 2 Cl 9,17 )} n ] 7n− polyanionic layers (2D). The vibrational properties of (1) and (2) have been studied via FT-IR spectroscopy with calculated semi-empirical PM3 mode. The optical properties of (1) and (2) have been characterized, by means of UV–Visible Absorption, Photoluminescence spectroscopy and Time Resolved PL (TRPL), with structure to optical property correlations.
