Population genetic diversity of Percocypris pingi in Yalong River, the tributary of the Yangtze River

2015
The Percocypris pingi is a rare and endemic species, which only inhabits the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. From June to August,2011,34 individuals were collected from Mianning sections of Yalong River, the tributary of the Yangtze River. All sequences of the mitochondrial control region( D_Loop) in full length 933- 934 bp were used to evaluate the genetic diversity. The results showed that 7 haplotypes and 12 polymorphic sites were found. The haplotype diversity, nucleotide diversity were 0. 082 0 ± 0. 042 0 and 0. 003 6 ± 0. 000 4,respectively. Due to current dam construction and overfishing P. pingi formed small population in Yalong River. The population genetic resource was not rich and the population genetic structure was simple. The artificial propagation and releasing of P. pingi is an effective method for stock recovery.
