There is no doubt that medical progress is based on human care. However, new technologies have always provoked controversy and fear of improper use. It is not revelatory to state that the risk does not come from the method itself, but from the way in which it is applied. The new genetics has awakened great hopes in societies, and this has allowed the development of a new branch of industry not always related to medicine. The primary objective of medical genetics is to develop new methods of treatment for the diseases that are not yet curable: this might be possible through genome editing methods. Transhumanists, who approach the new technologies enthusiastically, will see genome editing as the realization of the highest care for the mankind, bringing humanity to a higher stage of development.
