Dynamic pathways of personality: A further development of the personality systems framework

Abstract The personality systems framework depicts personality's inner organization and situates personality with regard to the systems that surround it. In this chapter, we describe the framework and use it to illustrate both the structure and the dynamic pathways of personality. We trace the pathways of dynamics of self-control and of action, using contemporary research examples to illustrate our points, and we argue for the usefulness of the framework in organizing and guiding research in contemporary personality psychology.
