Une proposition pour la future gestion des eaux urbaines A proposal for the future urban water management

It is difficult for us to foresee the future. However, it is possible for us to picture images of desirable future. Images of a desirable future show a direction to which we should proceed at present. Most of innovative technologies and strategies which have been researched in NOVATECH will be realized to be practiced in the future. This paper attempts to overlook how the future will look like in the field of urban drainage. What is described in this paper is a proposal for efforts by all of us to realise as well as our wishes for the future. A promising option for this purpose is to promote and implement networking of sewer systems and BMPs with use of garbage grinders as a precondition. In other words, the implementation of projects for runoff control, improvement of CSOs, non-point pollution control, energy saving, CO2 reduction, and reduction of O & M costs will become possible by the implementation of the networking and BMPs. The methodologies for future urban drainage in Japan are considered to be effective in order to solve various problems on urban drainage to be solved so far in all parts of the world.
