Radiotracer study of the simultaneous adsorption of anions and organic compounds on platinized platinum electrodes
1974
Summary The simultaneous adsorption of anions (HSO 4 − and Cl − ) and organic compounds (acetic acid, methanol, formic acid, formaldehyde) on platinized platinum electrodes has been studied by a tracer method described previously. The adsorption of acetic acid has been found to be stronger than that of HSO 4 − ions. In presence of a small amout of Cl − ions the adsorption of acetic acid decreases strongly. In the case of the simultaneous adsorption of methnol and Cl − ions it has been shown that the attainment of the stationary state is a very slow process. This slowness of the processes may explain phenomena reported in literature.
