Series pictures are pictures that make up a series of stories. Serial image media is a number of images where one image to another is interrelated and forms a specific story line. Reading the beginning is a skill and cognitive process. The skill process refers to the recognition and mastery of phoneme symbols, while the cognitive process refers to the use of familiar phoneme symbols to understand the meaning of a word or sentence. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to improve the ability to read beginning through serial image media for group A children at Kindergarten Bungong Nanggroe, Padang Tiji District, Pidie Regency? Padang Tiji District, Pidie Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The instrument used was an observation sheet, the number of samples was 12 children and the data were analyzed using a percentage formula. The results showed that in the description of the observation of children's activity in the first cycle, the total score obtained was 52% underdeveloped (6 children), 31% began to develop (3 children), developed according to expectations 14% (2 children), and developed categories Very good 2% (1 child). Whereas in the second cycle for the underdeveloped category 6% (1 child), 16.6% starting to develop (2 children), the developing category according to expectations was 37% (4 children) the very well developed category was 39.5% (5 children) ). Based on these data, it can be concluded that serial image media can improve children's early reading skills.
