Basedontheemergent colonization andfood-chain phenomena, behavioral ecology, a newkindof improved artificial-life algorithm isproposed Itis referred asFood-Chain Algorithm thatachieves optimization computation bymimicking theevolution ofnatural ecosystem andtheinformation processing mechanism ofnatural organisms. Artificialfood-chain system isfirstly built inartificial world, andfood-chain algorithm isdesigned indetail. Thenthekey parameters ofthealgorithm aresecondly analyzed in detail. According tothesimulation results, food-chain algorithm hasoutstanding performance infunction optimization. Furthermore, food-chain algorithm has lifelike traits, forexample, autonomy, evolution, adaptive, androbustness, anditadapts tosolve the optimization problems oflifelike systems, suchas, supply chain planning, distribution network designing, andetc. However, itisfelt that moreresearch mustbe doneinorder toreach abetter understanding ofhow todesign theparameters andrules offoodchain algorithm.
