SURVEY ON SEIF-CONCEPT AND MENTAL STATUS AMONG PUPILS AT PEASANT AND WORKMAN SCHOOL IN LANZHOU

[Objective]To study self-concept and mental status among pupils at peasant and workman school in Lanzhou,and to provide reference for school health education.[Methods]By the method of cluster sampling,252 pupils from peasant and workman school,150 pupils from rural school and 150 pupils from urban school were sampled and measured with Piers-Harris Children’s Self-concept Scale(PHSS),Social Anxiety Scale for Children(SASC),Children’s Loneliness Scale and Children’s Social Desirability Scale(CSD).[Results]Among the three groups,the self-concept and mental status of the pupils from peasant and workman school were significantly lower than rural group and urban group.Self-concept were related to social anxiety,loneliness,social desirability.The resource and self-concept had significant influence on the social anxiety,loneliness,social desirability,only had interaction with social desirability.[Conclusions]The pupils of peasants and workmen have negative self-concept and lower mental status among the three groups.
