VLA Observations of NH3 and HC7N in the Egg Nebula (CRL2688)

1987
The VLA was used to map CRL 2688 in the NH (1,1) and HC7N (J=21–20) transitions at 23.7GHz. The NH3 emission consists of a toroid (~12“x<3”) aligned along the dust lane and a jet extending to the north. A blueshifted stream of NH3 gas flows through the centre of the toroid. The HC7N shell which is probably an oblate halo could also be the site of anisotropic ejection of matter.
