Distinctive features of the fabrication and the characteristics of coaxial Si(Li) nuclear radiation detectors

1985
Large-volume coaxial Si(Li) detectors are shown to have disadvantages, due to the high resistivity of silicon, in contrast to Ge(Li) detectors. Measures are recommended for the elimination of these disadvantages by the choice of material, detector design, and conditions of lithium drift. A method is described for obtaining detectors with a resolution of 2.5-6 keV for the ..gamma..-ray line of Cs-137 for a working volume of approximately 30 cm/sup 3/.
