Geochemical characteristics and source analysis of heavy metals in surface sediment of Lianyungang area

24 samples in the surface sediments were collected from the Lianyungang areas during May 2009.The concentrations of heavy metals(Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,Cr,As),major compounds(Al2O3,Fe2O3,MnO,TiO,CaO),total organic carbon and grain size were measured.The factor and regression analysis were used to distinguish the factors of lithogenic and anthropogenic origin.The results showed that Cu,Zn and Cr concentrations were controlled by the natural local background value,while Pb,Cd and As were obviously contaminated by the human activities.
