Character of the Distribution of Shear Bands According to the Volume of a Sample of Amorphous Alloy Based on Zr after Torsion under Pressure in a Bridgeman Chamber

2021
As study is performed of the distribution of quantitative characteristics of the steps formed by shear bands (SBs) on the surfaces of deformed samples of massive amorphous alloy Zr60Ti2Nb2Cu18.5Ni7.5Al10 after torsion under high quasi-hydrostatic pressure (HPT) in a Bridgman chamber at room temperature and different deformation values. Histograms are obtained for the distribution of the main characteristics of the SB (power and bulk density) in different zones of disk-shaped samples (geometric center, zone 1; middle of the radius, zone 2; edge, zone 3) on the end surfaces. The dependence of the SB characteristics on the location of the studied area of the sliding steps is established. The minimum value of the bulk density of the SB is observed for all values of n in zone 2. The SB power grows monotonically at a rate that depends on the degree of deformation from zone 1 to zone 3. The maximum height of individual steps is observed in zone 3 (4.1 μm).
