PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION OF SOLAR POWERED DC-DC CONVERTER WITH Si AND GaN DEVICES

— The power generated by solar panels depends on the brightness of the sun. Thus, the outputpower and magnitude of voltage is not constant. DC-DC boost converter is one of the available choices toprocess electrical power generated from solar panel to desired level. This work is to study the performanceof the boost converter with the input supply from solar panel output. Additionally, the Silicon and Gandevices will be applied to further verify the power converter performance. The converter performance isconfirming trough the circuit simulation and then verified experimentally. The converter full load efficiencyis at 96% with Gan device. It is designed and tested at input voltage between 12 ~ 18 Vdc with maximumoutput voltage of 25 Vdc, 50 W.
