Decoupling technique based on frequency selective surface

2019
Array antennas have always been a core component of wireless communication systems and have a key role in the development of wireless communication technologies. However, the coupling effect between array antennas has a bad influence on the whole antenna system. How to effectively suppress the mutual coupling between antennas is also the key technology of array antenna research. In this paper, an decoupling technique based on frequency selective surface is proposed. The technique is placed the designed frequency selective surface structure directly above the array antenna, so that the the generated diffraction wave created by electromagnetic wave which passing through the frequency selective surface structure can reduce the coupling wave between antenna elements .Through model simulation, the proposed array antenna with the frequency selective surface achieves a coupling suppression of -34 dB over its operating frequency.
