Experimental investigation on optimization of process parameters of cutting Ti6Al4V composite using wire cut machining

2020
Abstract This paper offers a study of the machining of titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) by electrical cable discharge (WEDM). As a super alloy, titanium alloy is difficult to manufacture and is influenced by machining work. This notion, too, includes WEDM. It has also been found that the cutting speed increases with peak current and pulse duration. Surface roughness with pulse width and pulse frequency decrease has been shown to increase. Titanium and its alloys are attractive and important materials in modern manufacturing due to its unique properties, such as high resistance and low weight. In comparison to other metals evaluated in the field of medicine and engineering, titanium has the highest strength and weight ratio. It has been found that the cutting speed increases with peak current and pulse duration. Improved surface robustness with pulse width and pulse frequency reduction has been observed. The experimental research also demonstrated a important impact on the cutting speed of voltage, injection power, wire flow rate and wire voltage.
