A Discussion on C-E Translation of Public Signs in Scenic Areas

Public signs in scenic areas bear some special features and the translation is of great significance.By examining and photographing C-E public signs in scenic areas in Guangzhou and other places,the author summarizes major problems in their translation.Based on Newmark's perspectives of text type and semantic-communicative translation,the author suggests translation principles and strategies for public signs in scenic areas so as to achieve informative,vocative, aesthetic function and pragmatic adequacy between C-E texts.
