Composite body of copper or a copper alloy with embedded carbon nanotubes and methods for producing such a body as well as use of the composite

2008
The invention relates to a composite body made of copper or a copper alloy with embedded carbon nanotubes, a method for producing such a body as well as the use of this body. According to the invention the CNT content is between 0.1 wt .-% and 1.5 wt.%. The composite body is produced by sintering or by cooling a CNTs contained in an at least largely homogeneous distribution of the molten metal. Preferably, the composite body is used as a component for electrical connections, or in high temperature equipment, or high pressure systems.
