Facile Method on the Fast Synthesis of Hybrid Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks

Abstract Hybrid zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (HZIFs) have become promising porous materials like ZIF-8 and ZIF-67. Presented here is one facile method for the rapid and scalable synthesis of HZIFs. According to this method, HZIFs can be easily synthesized at ambient pressure, low temperature (50 oC), in very short time (30 minutes) and on a large scale (ca. 4 g) through heating mixture of reactants in DMF solvent. The samples exhibited similar surface areas but higher catalytically activity than former ones. In addition, the –CHO functional HZIF-1 can also be obtained under similar condition. These results will lay a solid foundation for further application of these promising materials.
