Experiencia de aplicación de ABP al Grado de Ingeniería Informática

2014
The Polytechnic School of UEM started during 2012/2013 its "Project Based Engineering School" (PBES). This consists on the application of ProjectBased Learning (PBL) in all its degrees. The students of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering developed in each academic year a comprehensive project covering partially the content of several courses; different teachers were involve in each project. Positive results of the first evaluation were obtained at the end of the academic year that include further development of key skills , a deeper understanding of the specific skills and an increasing on motivation of students and teachers. There were also identified some areas for improvement: create specific spaces in order to increase the collaboration opportunities between teachers of different subjects, joint activities of the participating subjects, adjustments in the teaching assignment of subjects, creation of a laboratory or workshop space where students can develop their projects or, finally, search external agents (companies , associations, non-profit organizations) to be involved in the design, development and evaluation of projects. This article will show the results (both qualitative and quantitative) obtained after the year of experience, the conclusions after analyzing them and improvement plans designed and that are being implemented during the academic year 2013/14.
