Total neutron cross section measurement of {sup 232}Th from 1.5 to 18 MeV
1994
The total neutron cross section of {sup 12}C, {sup 10}B and {sup 232}Th was measured at the 7 MV Van de Graaff laboratory. A pulsed 6.5 MeV deuteron beam of 1.5 ns width, on a thick BeLi target, yields an intense neutron source spectrum from 18 MeV down to less than 1 MeV. A NE213 liquid scintillator is set at 22.91 m distance. The measured total cross section data of {sup 12}C coincide well with the recommended data of the ENDF-V file, but our data of {sup 232}Th are slightly different from the ENDF-V data. The total cross section of {sup 10}B was measured simultaneously and is described elsewhere at this conference.
