AN INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF A FLUX ON ACTIVATOR CONCENTRATION IN A PHOSPHOR BY THE PARAMAGNETIC ABSORPTION METHOD

1961
A study is made of the effect of a flux on the penetration of divalent and trivalent activators into the divalent SrS lattice. It is shown that the concentration of Eu/sup 3+/ increases when any kind of flux is introduced. h the case of Gd/sup 3+/, the introduction of flux may result in either an increase or a decrease of the activator concentration, depending on the nature of the flux, in accordance with the principle of charge compensation.
