ICONOGRAPHY AND ICONOLOGY. FROM RENAISSANCE TO NOWADAYS. ARCHAEOLOGY APPLICATION.

The knowledge of Iconography and Iconology as an analysis method is essential for the nderstanding of the image in History. This article tries to clarify the main goal of these sciences. At the same time, it examines their historiographic journey, from the Renaissance to nowadays, insisting on the most important ideological tendencies. Also, it analyzes the close relationship between them and the Archaeology, including the methodological discussion where they are immersed today.
