Reaction of dithiocarbamates with malononitrile dimer; simple synthesis of new 1,4-dihydropyridine-2-thiols

Dithiacarbamates reacted with malononitrile dimer to give 1,4-dihydropyridine-2-thiols. The structures of the obtained products were proven by IR, mass, and NMR spectra and elemental analyses. The reaction mechanism is also discussed.
