THE CORRELATION BETWEEN WORKLOAD. SHIFT WORK AND PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT TO NURSE’S WORK STRESS IN INPATIENT ROOM IN RSU UKI

Nurses are the biggest amount of employees in hospital and often meet patient in person, so nurse had contributed to accreditation. The research had been done to find out the relation between workload, shift work and physical work environment towards work sress of nurses at RSU UKI. The researcher’s had used total sampling method (questionnaire), the respondents were 40 nurses in inpatient room. Fischer test had used to test the relation between workload and shift work towards work stress. The results were p: 0.54 for correlation  between workload and work stress, and p: 0.498  for correlation between shift work and work stress, also result of Spearman Correlation test was r value -0.213 for relation between  physical work environment and work stress, significance value was 0.187 greater than >0.05. It means that the significance was low between two variables. Based on the test, it had concluded that no relation between workload and shift work toward work stress because researcher couldn’t control amount of patient, individual factor, hospital accreditation, work schedule, had good relationship between nurse and another medical personnels. The physical work environment had negative and low significant relation towards work stress of nurses at RSU UKI. Key word: physical work environment, shift work, workload, work stress
