Research on calibration of vertical pendulum tiltmeter

The method of calibrating a vertical pendulum tiltmeter using a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) and an autocollimator with the precision of 4.8 10-8rad is first presented and performed. It is a kind of direct calibration method, which makes use of the advantages of the PZT and the autocollimator. The PZT can drive a tilt, but its piezoelectric coefficient is not accurate, so the autocollimator is used to monitor the tilt. Comparing with the indirect calibration method, the direct calibration method avoids the conversion process of the indirect parameters, so the calibration result is more reliable.
