Electrophysiological and Flow Cytometric Studies on Mechanism of Gentamicin Nephrotoxicity in Cultured Renal Cells

1992
The kidney is a major target organ for toxicity by many pharmaceutical compounds and environmentally important chemicals. The kidney is a complex organ with many diverse transport processes which can lead to concentration of highly toxic compounds and active metabolites. There is a need to develop better model systems in order to adapt molecular and mechanistic approaches to nephrotoxicity in order to establish site-specific processes and perturbations produced by drugs and other chemicals.
