Membrane technology to convert dairy waste into value-added products

Abstract That applying membrane technology industrial waste material can be converted into value-added product is illustrated in this chapter through the case study of conversion of dairy waste into acetic acid. This chapter presents a detailed technology (patented) on conversion of dairy cheese whey into acetic acid. Whey protein is also easily recovered in this novel technology. That adoption of membrane technology offers a golden avenue of sustainable business in the chemical and allied process industries where environmental pollution is quite severe, which is well established through this case study. This will definitely encourage concerned industry houses to go green.
