Multi-Carrier Envelope Tracking Power Amplifier

2018
A high efficiency wide bandwidth envelope tracking power is presented with multi-carrier results. The bandlimited slowed Adagio envelope shaping technique was used to enable multicarrier envelope tracking and enhance the capability of current analog envelope modulators. Adagio envelope shaping algorithm was developed with ease of implementation on FPGA with low resource allocations and latency. The effects of Adagio envelope on the RFP A efficiency was minimized and the overall ETP A efficiency was found to be significantly higher than conventional P A topologies. To validate the linearizability of the ETPA with Adagio envelope, four 10 MHz carriers spanned across 200 MHz bandwidth was demonstrated. The resulting ETP A achieved 43.5% efficiency with 10W average output power, simultaneously with high linearity of 1 % EVM and better than - 50 dBcACPR.
