Nucleoside conformations: 12. An infrared study of the polymorphism of guanine nucleosides in the solid state

1973
Abstract IR spectroscopy was used to define the previous observations of Shimanouchi et al. on the polymorphism of guanosine in the solid state. It is shown that form II is guanosine in its crystal form while form I is the helical tetrameric gel. This work was extended to 8-bromoguanosine which also shows polymorphism. It is shown that one of the forms [1] is also that of the helical gel.
