A novel traveling wave detection method for single-phase to ground fault of feeder based on wavelet analysis

In this paper, the characteristic of traveling waves of single phase to ground fault in distribution feeder is discussed. Wavelet technology is used to analyze the traveling wave signals of single phase to ground fault in an indirect connect-grounded distribution grid. A novel failure detection technique that distinguishes the fault feeder by the wavelets coefficient maximum polarity of the traveling wave zero mode is introduced. In the primary process of the fault, the influences of intermittent arc of fault, transformer and its neutral point are proved to be feeble. The simulation test shows the effectiveness and availability of the technique. (6 pages)
