A Cd(II)-based MOF as a dual-responsive luminescent probe for highly selective detection of Fe3+ cation and nitrofurantoin

2021
Abstract A novel luminescence MOF has been successfully prepared by the coordination assembly of CdCl2 and bis(imidazol-1-yl)methane (BIM) with the formula of [Cd(BIM)2Cl2]n. BIM and CdCl2 are coordinated with each other to form a 3D skeleton based on 1D Cd-based chain, which is characterized by many technologies, such as single crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analyses, elemental analysis, luminescence spectrum, and UV–Vis absorption spectrum. Thanks to good water stability and preferable photoluminescence properties, this MOF shows a luminescence turn-off phenomenon towards Fe3+ cation and nitrofurantoin (NFT) antibiotic with the Ksv value of 9.59 × 103 M−1 (R2 = 0.9913) and 1.48 × 105 M−1 (R2 = 0.9903) for Fe3+ and NFT. Additionally, the as-made sample possesses high selectivity and good reusability.
