Sintering of Submicronic Particles of Metallic Oxides

1973
Theoretical models for the initial stage of sintering have been proposed and kinetic equations have been derived which fit correctly the results provided that the experimental system approximates correctly to the theoretical model. Metal or metallic oxide particles generally used in sintering haveabout one micron or more in diameter and the equations have been derived for these particles. However, when the diameter of the oxide particles is 1000 A or less, classical equations of sintering are no longer obeyed, (1).
