Delta Sigma (Δσ) Based Switched Mode On-Chip FM Transmitter Architecture

This paper discusses a novel design of delta sigma based on-chip stereo switched mode FM transmitter architecture at 100MHz.. A complete design including delta sigma modulator and switched mode power amplifier in 250nm CMOS technology has been presented. Target application for this design is the FM radio transmitter in mobile communication systems where such a transmitter enables a mobile device to stream audio data to FM receiver. This way we can turn our mobile into a radio station and tune it into any radio frequency. In mobile communications, power and area are two of the most important parameters to cater for. In this paper a complete CMOS implementation and use of switched mode transmitter ensures both area and power and optimized.
